When files are moved...

Post by ramazottel »

When files are moved it`s necessary to tell Transmission where the new location of the downloaded files is -by opening the torrent file again and selecting the new location of the completed file as download location.
At least I don`t know any better.

I would like to have some assistance here by the torrent application finding the files on the harddrive maybe using Apple`s built in search-API (spotlight).
Or at least being ask to show Transmission the new location.

Maybe that is already possible. In this case it would be nice if someone would tell me how. That would save some time.

Would require:
1. Inspecting downloads in finder
and if I want to move it:
2. opening Transmission
3. search the file (not complicated but an extra step)
4. clicking through directory structure instead of drag`n`drop from one finder window to another.

It would work though until files are renamed or the containing folders are renamed.
I typically rename the downloaded folders.

You cannot rename the files.

I have a related question. I have some data files which I downloaded using a different application (Azureus). I have the data file and the torrent file, and I'd like to seed using Transmission. Is there a way to do this, or can I only seed files I have either a) downloaded myself, or b) created the torrent file for?

When the dialog for adding a torrent pops up, you can specify the folder where the data is already stored.

I second the request of having Transmission ask where the file went ... or being able to right click on it and chose "Set new location" or something like that.

Thank you,
