Having the option to keep the actual .torrents stored wherever the actual file is stored is a good idea! An even better idea, is to allow the actual .torrents to be saved in customizable default location, as well as a location based on group. This will make it easier for collections of torrents to be migrated to new systems.
This is useful for people with torrents they have seeding indefinitely for private websites.

Why not delete the torrent files on add, and recover them when needed from File -> Save Torrent File...
Re: Option to move and store torrent files alongside downloads
First of all, this topic should belong to "General requests" as it is not Mac specific.
Consider this:
1. Sometimes you want to keep seeding some torrents for a long time.
2. If (sometimes) you've decided to change a torrent client or a operating system (as it was in my case ), you will need to add all the torrents to a new torrent client, to continue seeding.
3. When you have a lot of torrents for seeding, it is hard to find all the .torrent files for them.
4. Keeping .torrent files in a dedicated folder will make this process MUCH easier. And it is trivial to implement.
5. To convince you, uTorrent, KTorrent, Deluge are all providing this option. It is useful.
P.S. What happened to Trac? I wanted to create a ticket for this issue, but it says that I have no rights for that.
That is very inconvenient when there are a lot of torrent files. Also, in GTK version there is no such a button at all.livings124 wrote:Why not delete the torrent files on add, and recover them when needed from File -> Save Torrent File...

Re: Option to move and store torrent files alongside downloads
Transmission is not going to manage .torrent files. Once you add it to Transmission, it is copied internally, and you're free to do whatever you want with it. As you can see with magnet links, torrent files have less usefulness, and managing these files outside of giving you the option to retrieve it is not going to happen.
Trac should let you post once you register and confirm an email. But please don't create a ticket for this; it will just be closed.
