Minimal View UI (small fix)
Minimal View UI (small fix)
Hey guys
Minimal View is great when you run a lot of torrents. Right now I am running 20, and the problem is that even with Minimal View on, it's still cluttered (and yes, I am grouping).
So, what I suggest is a small fix: Let's place the torrent text inside the download bar, as such:
This change would free up a LOT of space, finally remove the need for scrolling and also simply make it all look a lot more tidy. Any thoughts?
Ps. here are some old threads suggestion something similar (didn't want to necro):

i've suggested also something similar in http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... f=5&t=9734 and i like the one line approach you suggested here too. only thing i would do differently. make the progress bar smaller in width so there there isn't any text info like torrent name and ul/dl speeds overlaid. just each element placed next to each other. otherwise it looks a bit confusing and overcharged imho

Try a nightly build. http://transmission.xpjets.com/
Re: Minimal View UI (small fix)
I like it, with the caveat that the pastel colours are a bit washed out on my old lcd.
Could a solid border be added to the bottom? Something like this: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9913/transmissionw.png
Another minor issue is that the progress bar is invisible when a torrent is selected.
The mouse over effect which replaces the time remaining with the pause/show torrent icon is a bit jarring as well. Could the text be truncated (from say "2 hr 30 min remaining" to "2 hr 20 min") to enable the icons to be permanently visible?

Seems a bit much. Minimal mode gets you info at a glance - the dark bar makes the cells too crowded imho.iMark wrote:I like it, with the caveat that the pastel colours are a bit washed out on my old lcd.

I'll look into possible solutions that don't look awful, but worst case scenario I don't think this is a big deal.iMark wrote:Another minor issue is that the progress bar is invisible when a torrent is selected.
I've updated the code so the title doesn't resize for the smaller controls appearing.iMark wrote:The mouse over effect which replaces the time remaining with the pause/show torrent icon is a bit jarring as well. Re: Minimal View UI (small fix)
I'll grant you that, but the problem I have is that there's not enough contrast between the colour of the progress bar, and the white background. It's hard to distinguish between them at a glance, particularly on my old lcd.livings124 wrote:Seems a bit much. I agree, I find it difficult to see, also.iMark wrote:I'll grant you that, but the problem I have is that there's not enough contrast between the colour of the progress bar, and the white background. how about making the progress bar pastel when highlighted?

I've made the bar a bit darker.

thats much better!livings124 wrote:I've made the bar a bit darker.
have you considered adding the size, and amount remaning to perhaps a hover state of the torrent name, just for a little more info.
that would make it perfect (to me at least)
thanks for your time.

That info's in the inspector. Any more info in the main window would be too crowded (believe me, I tried). It's called Compact View for a reason.

Ah, well. good to know that you tried it out.
regardless, I think this will be my default view from now on,
cheers.
great job!
