It would be interesting to use the gtk client to connect to a remote transmission-daemon.
This way it might take advantage of the whole functionality of the client gtk.

That would be nice, especially since the Qt client can do this.
Why does the Qt client do it but the GTK+ client doesn't?
Simple: the Qt client was written after the daemon, but the GTK+ client was written before.
Adding this functionality to the GTK+ client would pretty much require a full rewrite.
Unless someone submits a really big patch, this is unlikely to be implemented.
