WebGui could not connect - had to whitelist FQDN

I have been using transmission and the web interface for a while, I had
"rpc-host-whitelist": "",
"rpc-host-whitelist-enabled": true,
"rpc-port": 9091,
"rpc-url": "/transmission/",
"rpc-username": "transmission",
"rpc-whitelist": "127.0.0.1,192.168.*.*",
After a recent reboot (Ubuntu 16.0.4 apt upgrade perhaps) the webgui was failing when using FQDN although it worked with IP
I found I was able to get it working again by adding the FQDN to the whitelist
