Does Transmission respect Gnome Proxy Settings?

Yes, this is a Tor-related question; No, I don't want Transmission to use Tor.

So my question is pretty straightforward, does Transmission respect the Gnome's Network Proxy Settings? I have configured Gnome to send network traffic through Polipo/Tor, I would just like to make sure that Transmission does not also use Polipo/Tor.
