I'm looking for the most lightweight noob distro to run transmission on old celeron hardware. There is only 384mb ram, celeron M 1860mhz
I'm not very knowledgeable about linux, so will need a GUI for desktop, file management, good firewall and ... transmission operating as swiftly as possible.
I'd like it snappy and speedy for torrents only
Which "out of the box" lightweight & speedy OS/package would you recommend? Thanks!
Which lightweight OS for transmission on old hardware?
Re: Which lightweight OS for transmission on old hardware?
I would give Lubuntu a try.
This is an easy-to-install Linux distribution with the LXDE desktop. Of course, it is not full-featured, but it's graphic and has a file manager.
You may want to uninstall all the office software that is installed by default (unfortunately).
