Finished vs Paused Filter

Post by undrline »

I'm using Transmission 2.84 (14307),the latest from t̶h̶e̶ ̶U̶b̶u̶n̶t̶u̶ ̶r̶e̶p̶o̶s̶ http://ppa.launchpad.net/transmissionbt/ppa/ubuntu, on Xubuntu Precise. I've experienced this issue on various older versions of Ubuntu as well. I don't think it's an issue on TransmissionQt, so I'm reporting it in the GTK+ section.

The "Show" filter has multiple options ... Active, Downloading, Uploading, etc.
One of those options is Paused.
Unfortunately, it doesn't just show items that have a Paused status, it also shows items that have a Finished status. I think that's not supposed to happen.

I figure it it might be helpful for someone somewhere, so I propose creating a feature that would allow the user to create a custom filter that can combine statuses if they wish. In the meantime, if this could be fixed, that would make my life a little easier.

Thanks for everything.

I still have this issue. It is more than annoying. It makes me avoid pausing things, because I'm going to have to scroll through all my finished items looking for the ones that are paused to start them again.

According to this bug:
https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/4488
"A torrent cannot be finished without being paused. That finished filter will be a subset of the paused filters."

Okay, I guess. If the ratio has been reached, it obtains a paused state called finished. I suppose that's a subtle way to look at the status. But, a filter goes to usability.

This post says I'm not alone. They go into more detail about the status ... <100%, stopped, paused, finished ... going further to explain why the combined filter is silliness from an intuitive user perspective.

The bug comments (https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/4488) contain two patches that will separate finished from paused. Unfortunately, patches means people have to make their own builds for something that should come out of the box. idk if making my own build means I can't rely on the repo anymore, either.

At least allow for custom filters in the official build.
