pre-start script for tun0

I am running Ubuntu 16.04, and I have transmission working with my vpn provider. I have a pre-start script that goes out and puts the tun0 ip address in my settings.json file before transmission starts. My question is how can I automatically execute this script before transmission starts on a reboot for instance? I see nothing in /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon or /etc/default/transmission-daemon that would allow for this.
