Cannot open port?

Post by kylerickards »

Hi all

I cannot port forward on my dgn2000 netgear router. I had no troubles with my old netgear router or when using bittorrent previously. I am currently using Transmission under Linux - any advice appreciated.

Many thanks

Thanks x190, tried the guides but still nothing. As said, I had it set up under previous config so perhaps I am missing something obvious with the router. The IP address that I point to in router is the router one right? I tried my PC IP addy that comes up and got told by router that it was illegal IP address.

EDIT - Fixed now! Thanks

You would have to manually open port in firewall/iptables in linux etc (on Ubuntu I use firestarter to do so.). Also open it on router. You don't need to always have port open but the transfers may go slower or rarely not transfer at all.
