Internet Problems

Hi, I am fairly new to macs and not really sure on how this is all supposed to work. On my PC I could run a bittorent client and surf the web and my internet would just be slow. When I open transmission my internet is completely unresponsive... I read the FAQ and couldn't come across any reasoning for this, what is wrong?

Have you limited (in Transmission) your up and download speeds to something around 60-70 percent of capacity? With that setting you should be able to do some normal browsing without a large impact on speeds.

like weasel said. and especially your upload speed is important if it goes higher then your normal upload speed it blocks the download speed (and your download speed is then 7KB/s or even lower)
