OpenBSD Ports out-of-date.

I've run into problem after problem, the transmissioncli gets to speeds over 18000kb/sec, rtorrent and btdownloadcurses about the same speeds on the ubuntu iso, my setup is a little complex due to restrictions i have to pass by a proxy to get to Some Tracker but thats all setup and working. The web-ui however ill not get (even with many torrents on it) over the 1kbits/sec even if *i* am seeding with the other torrent programs on a 1gbps line.

After a few there and back on the IRC support channel, people simply explained that there was no help if i didn't update, the FreeBSD port is the version 1.6 and the current release is 1.7.

So here goes, are these ports still maintained ? Last message from the maintainer date from August 08, If it isn't please remove the FreeBSD section as it only wasts our time (about 3 hours here), and of course we can update from the source, for a price, loosing the security database entry and upgrades if needed, on a dedicated server i hate to become vulnerable because of a torrent non maintained.

This is the forum for the Transmission developers, not the OpenBSD Ports people.

mrstocks: when those ports are maintained, they're done so by regular users like you who happened to volunteer.

Instead of "ranting" about them, why not update the port and post it?

If i knew how to i would, but i've never had to make any for BSD, usualy they are update to date with the valid security entries that go with it. This is FreeBSD not Kubuntu anyway my questions where are they maintained still, and if not, is it a good idea to post them ? (definitly *not* to use them!)
