Maximizing Transmission

Post by shmerls »

I'm trying to maximize my prefs for downloading and uploading. Can some one advise what are my best settings for Bandwith?

Using Speedtest.org I register: 15 Mb/s dnld, and 1.50 Mb/s upld.

Bandwidth: Neither Global bandwidth limits for downlate rate or upload rate are checked.

Peers: Global Max connections is 200 peers
Max for new transfers: 60 peers

Transfers/Management: Stop seeding at ratio = 2.00
Queue dlnd max = 3
Seeding max = 3

If I'm doing this right the manual says upload connection should cap btwn 60-70%.
So if my upload is 1.50Mb/s = 1587 Kb/s. ((1587 / 8) * 0.66 = 130)?

Also... where's the Action Menu? TM Help says you can use it to max your settings but I can't find it. And can anyone explain it

Thanks,
S

There's some people that use an Azureus connection calculator that can be found in Google to find out what they should put where: http://infinite-source.de/az/az-calc.html

Thanks. For some reason the download speed though always only shows zero.

Thanks again. If a torrent reports to have hundreds (or more) peers, and you're prefs are set to 60. With so many peers reported, why isn't downloading always maxed at 60 of 60?

I've read the slow speeds wiki and tested my speed and ISP. All good there, these are not problem areas. My ISP is not manipulating.

So I don't get it. Seeders and Leechers are in the 900 range, my peers preff is set to 60. But I'm not even hitting 60. How can I have less than 60 with 900 seeders and leechers showing?

And I see in the Peers Torrent Inspector, that of the limited list of peers I do have, many don't want to DL and in some cases the info says that I don't want to UL!

What does "chocked" mean?

So why don't some peers not want to DL? Am I doing something wrong? I wish there was a detailed description about the Inspector. Is there?

I see that in many cases I am UL faster than DL. Example: DL: 85 KB/s, UL 150 KB/s
