slowing down after 60+ transfers

I currently have about 57-61 transfers open (currently seeding, though total transfer rate of 0kb/s) of a total of 74 transfers. I'm on a macbook3,1 with 4GB of RAM. Scrolling up/down is noticeably laggy, though the rest of my computer is fine. Is this normal, can I ask all you other users for performance characteristics on a similar machine?

Can someone move this to Mac support please?

I'm seeing CPU usage of 50-90% in Activity Monitor just by scrolling the window up and down.
