Hi.
I have a laptop (Macbook, OSX10.5), and often download large files onto my external hard drive, while I download smaller files to my local hard drive. Due to the mobility, I often move around and continue to seed and download (the ones saved down locally). A problem that I face often is that Transmission perceives the "external" torrents as non-existing when I return to my work station and continue the transfers, which makes them appear as newly added torrents in the application, which starts the transfer all over again. If I remove the torrent and add the torrent file over again, while specifying the location to the external hard drive, Transmission still believes that the downloaded content doesn't exist for some reason, and starts the transfer all over, which is quite devastating.
A suggestion is better support for external hard drives. When a drive is disconnected, the torrent is locked, paused, whatever until it's connected again.
A note is that this problem mostly occurs if I pause the external torrents, disconnect the drive, restart Transmission or the computer and then continue the transfers again (with the drive connected).
Parades for a smashing application.

About external hard drives
Re: About external hard drives
I would really love to see this issue addressed. This is the only reason that I don't use transmission regularly.
I store almost all of my downloads on an external drive, which means that I have to load a different program when I want to download torrents when I am not plugged into the drive. If I do open transmission when it isn't plugged in then I get about a million popup windows telling me the files can't be found, and then when I do launch it with the drive connected, all of those transfers are paused. This is really annoying because I love transmission, and I would like to use it all the time.
Cheers.

+100!
This problem arises here an there (somebody deletes files and don't want them to be re-downloaded, others want more mobility) but the base idea is simple: if torrent was completed once and something happens with some (all) files -- don't do anything, just show the error. Let the user to make descision: return files back, delete torrent or re-download.
Particulary, I have 2x1Tb drives inside my 'seed machine' and 2x1Tb drives outside. By the outside I mean that I have SATA craddle (hotswap) and rack with HDDs. All content is in Transmission (4Tb) but obviously I can seed only 3Tb at a time. So what happens when I change drives? Transmission can 't find 1Tb of data, pauses torrents and drops progresses to 0%. Then I return previous HDD back, restart TBT, and what it does -- it wants to RECHECK ONE freaking TERABYTE of data. Really, really annoying!
But anyway -- thank you for the Transmission! Nice looking, lovely grinded and portable!

Pop!
Hey, dev-guys, there are a plenty of topics with "recheck/error/confuse of previously missing complete torrents" problem. Can you please react somehow on this?
"Won't fix (Not a Bug)" or "Give us a Patch" or "Let discuss it here (link)" or "We are working on it" or Something, please...

I love you transmission but this has put a wedge between us, I thought you would change but you left me with a bad ratio and full system drive that was really hard for me to fix. You were the technical one out of us 2!
