Futuristic Speeds?

Post by vatsan »

Today I had to reset my System time to 2006 to validate some software  and when I checked Transmission, it is downloading at speeds like 10MBps and uploading at almost 20 MBps. My internet connection itself is only 512 kbps. I reset the date back to today and it seems fine.

Not like this is an issue or anything. I just wonder, why exactly does this happen?

The speeds are calculated by measuring the amount of data sent/received over a short period of time (hence the kb PER second). Change the system time, who knows what will happen.

Aahh makes sense. I almost thought my service provider had given me a free upgrade or something.
