When does the "Verify Data" thing happen? For me, it seems to happen every time I startup Transmission. I guess that makes sense but It takes about 40 minutes for one of the things I'm downloading (41.2GB), which is 8% of the time I can use Transmission in a day.
It also seems to get stuck sometimes during the process and I have to manually 'Verify data'. I played with Deluge a bit and it didn't display this type of behaviour, so it makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong (like using kill to stop it) or don't know something.

Yeah if you use kill to stop it, this could happen.
