Hi,
I've tried everything! I read all the help I could and tried the Automatic forwarding, the manual forwarding, everything! My port is still closed! Here's the log data:

I am running a Mac OS X 10.5.8 and have a Thomson TCW750-4 wireless modem and Transmission 1.76 (9392).
Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

Re: Can't open port
are you sure you did check all the guides that are in my signature? Try them out
(also if you forward manual, be sure to uncheck the checkbox of automatically forwarding)

Re: Can't open port
I've read and followed the guides. The Automatic setup doesn't work, even though I have UPnP on my modem, and the DMZ is off. The manual setup doesn't produce any results either. I've picked a random port, 52525, set up the Transmission port and the modem's port in the Port Forwarding window (the only field I'm missing is the Application Name field), and the port is still closed even after I've unchecked the automatic setup option. I've even set my Firewall to allow all incoming connections and specified Transmission like it says in the guide.
My IPv4 address is 192.168.0.11, but the CanYouSeeMe.org site says it's 89.27.6.163.
I can't enter this second one into the modem because the modem gives me 192.168.0.xx and only lets me enter the last two numbers in place of the x's. So when the CanYouSeeMe.org site checks whether or not the port is open, it checks using the 89.27.6.163 address and tells me that the port is closed. (No surprise there)
Like I said earlier, I've now officially tried everything. What's strange is that the log says that the port has been forwarded, but it is still closed! Any solutions?

Re: Can't open port
I've just tried the GRC link. It says that all ports, including 52525, are in Stealth mode. By the way, it also says my IP is 89.27.6.163. Why? Here's a couple of summaries:

Maybe this can somehow help uncover the solution to my problem?
And how can I get rid of this PING REPLY? I don't want to be visible to any hacker who can send one of these PINGS.
Thanks!

Re: Can't open port
I've tried GRC with Transmission running. Here's the report:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
GRC Port Authority Report created on UTC: 2009-12-22 at 17:24:49
Results from probe of port: 52525
0 Ports Open
0 Ports Closed
1 Ports Stealth
---------------------
1 Ports Tested
THE PORT tested was found to be: STEALTH.
TruStealth: FAILED - ALL tested ports were STEALTH,
- NO unsolicited packets were received,
- A PING REPLY (ICMP Echo) WAS RECEIVED.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's what I've done so far:
- Since the automatic setup failed, even though my modem is UPnP capable, I've read the Transmission help files.
- After that, I opened the Firewall settings, checked "Allow all incoming connections".
- Then I opened the settings of my modem. On the "Forwarding" page I entered the last two digits of my local IP address (which is the only thing I could do), entered 52525 as the "Start port" and "End port", selected "Both" for protocol, clicked "Enable" and clicked "Apply". The only field missing on my router setup page is the "Application" field - nothing I can do about that.
- Basically, I did everything the guides say to do. (I've almost memorized them by now!
)
Even after all this, Transmission shows that the port is closed. BTW, running it this way is useless, since it makes absolutely no progress on the downloads, which is why I started this post in the first place. That's about as detailed as it gets. Also, one of the previous versions of Transmission worked for me just fine about 9-12 months ago, but I was on a college network then.
Can the "Connect to trackers with a proxy" option help me and how is it different?

Re: Can't open port
I did set the custom port in Transmission preferences, as well as turned off the "Automatically map port" option, I just forgot to mention it. Sorry.
I've tried running Transmission from a different internet connection (one with an actual wire), and its the same story all over again!
I'm not sure if the ISP is blocking BitTorrent traffic or not. How can I find out for sure? And how do I use the Proxy option? I'm not a specialist and am not quite sure.

Re: Can't open port
Network Utility shows that port 52525 is open! But Transmission still says it's closed and doesn't want to download anything!
'Ignore unencrypted peers' is checked, the firewall is set to 'Allow all incoming transmissions', but now the problem is accessing this second modem.
It's my friend's and it's connected to the phone line instead of to the TV antenna like mine. The generic address given in the help doesn't work. Safari says the server is not responding. I'll try out your suggestions when I'm back on my own modem.
As for your question
Thanks for your help so far. Happy Holidays!

there's nothing between the modem and my computer except for a wire in my friend's modem's case and nothing but air in the case of my modem.x190 wrote:Are you maybe using a second router here somewhere? Airport maybe?

Re: Can't open port
I'm finally back on my own modem.
To my great surprise, things seem to work fine now! I don't know what happened
All I did was download one of those ubuntu torrents and toggled the "Automatically map port" option. It still shows that the port is closed by the way, but the downloads are making progress!
I hope this keeps up! I really don't want to go through all this again!
Thanks a lot for all your help! I really appreciate it!

Re: Can't open port
I want to know what are the main Ports for downloading in Bittorrent.
