Hey all,
Im a nube and Im trying to get started here. I have Bit Torrent installed now and Im not happy with it. I was referred here. When I trash Bit Torrent can I expect my torrents to come straight to me through Transmission or do I need to set some special preferences? Im basically ignorant of how this whole operation works and Im trying to learn the ropes here. What do I need to do get started and be running smoothly? I sure would appreciate some good advice. Thank you very very much.
You have to do a few things (don't trash BitTorrent before it works)
1) Open Transmission, go to preferences -> Transfers and select the same download location as your downloaded files in BitTorrent are. (Do also the incomplete folder if you had a specific folder for it at BitTorrent too)
2) Search the .torrent files of the torrents that are currently active in BitTorrent (BitTorrent should also have them kept somewhere in a folder)
3) Open the .torrent files in Transmission (select all and then right click -> open with Transmission)
4) If Transmission doesn't check the existing data automatically, select all the torrents in Transmission, then go to Transfers -> Verify Data (not the preferences Transfers)
