Hey guys,
I recently purchased a MAC, and decided to go with the same Torrent client I use on my linux machine - Transmission!
however, I encountered problems :
when I try to download an ordinary torrent from a public tracker, download starts, no problems. But if I try one from my private trackers, download doesn't even start.
I thought, what the hell, I'll try some other clients to see if the reason is in my connection, or Transmission itself :
tried uTorrent -> downloads from BOTH private & public sites, No problems.
tested Vuze (Azerus) -> SAME case as the transmission. It simply won't download from private trackers.
there must be some kind of a rule, which obviously uTorrent manages to bypass, and the other two don't.
for the info, my ports are properly forwarded, I have no connection issues.

I don't think there's any such rule. Transmission, Vuze, and uTorrent all try to download from wherever they can.
It's more likely that the tracker was having some kind of problems or that there's some other clue that we're not seeing yet. If you look in the Tracker tab in the Torrent Inspector dialog, does it say that the announces to the private tracker are succeeding? Also, how many seeders and leechers are there in the private torrent you're trying to download?

Not sure if your issue and mine are related, but thought I'd mention that I'm having a similar issue, though it appears to be when I mix/match public and private trackers:

When I went to download using just the private tracker, I thought it was the tracker causing the issue. What I noticed was that it would download in fits and starts. At one point Transmission indicated I had 27 of 33 peers connected, and I would be pulling down 130KB. A few seconds later, it showed I was downloading/uploading 0KB. I'd wait and watch, and sure enough, a minute to so later, it would start again and be pulling down more.
Now I'm realizing the issue was with Transmission 1.82. After reading the above post, I downloaded the nightly (10023), and now the private tracker download I was attempting is going great. Looking forward to 1.83.
