Port is open but torrents won't download

Post by Sarcastic Sam »

Ok, I got my port forwarded through my router and firewall and Transmission says its open, but my torrents still won't download. They remain at 0% and say 0 of 0 peers. Any ideas on settings to change?

I had the same issue.... Same time...
I had to download the BETA, only then it worked, but tht ended up freezing it even for the whole night....

Wait till they release the next non beta version... or use Vuze (Memory Mongr)
Do not continue downloading... it will Fcuk up the files already downloaded.... the continuation can wait till the Complete release is out.. Right?

I am having the same issue - i believe it may be isp throttling of bit torrent traffic for me.
I was having exactly the same problem, now i'm facing it intermittently with drop out every couple of minutes. not less than 8 hours ago it worked flawlessly. I am doing google test on ISP throttling at the moment. http://trac.transmissionbt.com/wiki/SlowSpeeds

running latest stable version.

results were clear but it may be the non-standard port that i have open through my router? i.e. not 6881.

Hello. I have a slightly similar question, and I didn't want to open up a new thread.

I am using Transmission (v 1.54 on Mac OS 10.4.11) to DL and seed some obscure films and albums. My port is open, at least most of the time, but I have two problems:

1) Cannot seed dependably. I seem to be able to DL with no problem, at speeds up to 275 KB/s. However, my _seeding_ is limited to brief bursts of no more than 20 or 30 KB/s at a time; typically it's no more than 8 KBs. The seeding is never sustained for more than a few seconds. Thus I never seed substantial amounts even over a 24- or 48-hour period. Have others encountered this problem?

2) Checking port cuts off wireless network! Sometimes, I find that the port is not closed but rather "Port check site is down" -- even if my wireless internet is running with no trouble. Now here's the weird part: often, when I click to check on the availability of the port in the Transmission preferences, my wireless internet connection is disrupted. That is, as soon as I check the port, the "DSL" and "Internet" lights on my wireless modem/router (2Wire 2701HG-B) flash red and it takes 30 seconds to a minute for the wireless network to come back to life. What is going on here? It's as if checking on the port causes my router to go wacko. Sometimes, once the wireless network comes back, the port is often, but often it's again "Port check site is down."

FWIW I'm using Transmission's defaults for the port number, etc.

I suspect these two problems are connected. Any suggestions, advice...?
