Transmission Update not working (LOCKED: duplicate thread)

Hi, I just updated to the latest version of Transmission on my fully updated Mac, running Leopard.

Now it's not working at all, I can install an older version, but I want to keep the list of torrents I was downloading or just get the updated version working.

When opening Transmission it the cursor turns into a circle and that's all it does, I have to force quit Transmission now.

Any advice please?

1.82 is having a problem. Downloads and Uploads seem to just stop. I have connectivity to all the peers but all data transfers pause for a minute at a time then restart. Has anyone see this?

Sounds like you're overloading your router. Limit your speeds and limit the number of peers.

Looks like a bigger problem. People are stating to post the same issue. Look at the post about 1.81 and 1.82 ports closing.

same issue here. Peers are there but transfer speed is zero
i don't think it's an issue about router overloading, since I ran only one task and set the global connection limit as low as 50.

it takes too long to quit. at last i have to force quit.

hi guys .... i am totally desperate because i have the same failures .... my mac is vers. 10.6.2 snow lep.
the port says allways its closed ... typed on in which i found on a diff. engine : like 6881 ... it s open , but still after a few sec its allways goes down to 0 ...


any help i can get is very appriciated ... thx

oh ... and after update 1.82 from tm didnt fixed it yet ... bummer !!!

Transmission has same problems for me. Running 10.6.2 SL and it seems to connect and disconnect for awhile and then connect again for like 10 sec then stop again, over and over. Still shows that I am connected to peers but DL and UL is 0.0. Why would anything else, like the router or DL or UL limits, matter? 1.77 or whatever version was before 1.80 worked perfect on the same setup and I could get up to a MB/sec or more, depending on the torrent. It seems to me that transmission is the problem. I hate complaining about free apps but it is a problem that should be fixed. I let'cha know how it goes when I downgrade. 'Til then, hope the problem gets fixed! Transmission is the best client I've used and many thanks to the people who made it, keep on guys!

I agree with the other posters, before the update Transmisiion ran without any problems, now I've gone back to the previous version. Won't update now for a good while.

I'm having the same problem...I just updated to 1.82 and suddenly this issue came up. It will start uploading and downloading for a few seconds but then everything 0s out--and stays that way. I have 20 transfers pending and really do not want to start all over. Should I wait out a fix? Anyone recommend another client?

I plug my Mac (SL OS) into the modem directly...this is not a router issue. I have a 22 MPBS connection...not a connection problem.

Having the same problem. Downloads just stop for minutes at a time.

Could someone be so kind as to explain how to go back to the old version? It would be very much appreciated

All I did was dragged Transmission to the trash (don't use Cleanapp or similar for this, otherwise it'll delete preference files as well), keeping all the preference files in it's place, went onto transmission's website and looked for an older version, seems to be working fine again, but before starting downloading, just check that you're preferences are the same, as in download location etc...

Just downgraded to 1.76 (9392) and it worked straight away. Many transfers at once moving at a good pace and seem to stay connected the entire time. I don't know what the deal is with the jump to 1.80, but i hope its not to troublesome. I'll help test any new versions to fix this, if needed. I'm running the latest os x (SL 10.6.2), does anyone know how I'd go about doing that? Thanks!
