Active transfer maximum settings not repected (1.83 mac)

Hi there,
I am using transmission 1.83 in mac osx 10.5.8.
The active transfer settings in preferences -> Transfers -> Management -> Queues is not respected . I have set the first one(no. of active transfers) to 1 and second one (no. of seeding) to 3. But it downloads all the torrents I add. Is this a bug?

On a second look. It seems to be working, but only for new ones. This is what is happening. Say if the active transfers is 2 and I am already downloading 2, then if I change active transfers to 1, then its not working as expected, transmission continues to download the 2.
It seems to be working for only newly added ones, not the existing ones.

oh, yeah i think that might be normal (same for me) - if there are torrents already active then it won't stop them when you tick the box. i assume this is intentional.

In my experience, dating back as far as version 0.8 or thereabout, the "Seeding with a maximum of" preference never worked. "Download with a maximum of" on the other hand, always did.

Right now e.g., while maximum seeding is set to 16, in fact 29 are active. This will only serve to put completed downloads on hold (i.e pause 'm) instead of becoming active seeds instantly.
Would be nice to have this fixed.

Yeah I don't think I have ever seen the max seed settings ever obeyed in Transmission. Downloads I pay less attention to, but they seem to work according to my prefs.

i wouldn't expect these settings to affect torrents that are already running. how would transmission know which ones you'd like to be paused and which to keep running? when you turn the settings on, then you might as well manually stop (and possibly requeue) whichever torrents you don't want running right then, and then transmission can manage stuff from then on according to your settings.

My problem is that if I start up Transmission, it just goes ahead and tries to seed every torrent in the list. I would expect it to download/seed up to the max numbers specified in the prefs. Otherwise, why even have a preference for it if I have to do it manually? The download limits seem to be honored, just not the seed limits.

Maybe I am missing your point.

If i recall correctly, Transmission will on-the-fly adjust to the download limits in regards to torrents already running. I think this is a glitch and not a feature.

ok, i've never tried it for seeding, so i can't confirm either way.

Looks like 1.90 just dropped. Seems to be doing the same thing in regards to the seed limits.

This is really annoying. This option has been available for all of the last releases, but it has never worked. They should either fix it or remove it.

Edit: I am using version 1.92.

Is this setting fixed now? Works for anyone else? Just tried the downloading one and it doesn't work...
