If your still not back in business at this point, control-click on the .app file and select 'Get Info'. Ensure that 'Rosetta' is unchecked and try using '32-bit mode'.
I did it. It continues to crash.
Please read the entire thread. The current Thing To Try is to download a nightly build of r10235 or higher from transmission.xpjets.com and to report back whether or not it's still crashing, and if so, to post a crash report. :)

Transmission 1.90 (10223) [update installed SAT. 21 FEB. 2010] CONSTANTLY CRASHING:
OS Versioon: Mac OS/X 10.6.2

Process: Transmission [245]
Path: /Applications/Transmission.app/Contents/MacOS/Transmission
Identifier: org.m0k.transmission
Version: 1.90 (10223)
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process: launchd [99]

Thread 2 Crashed:
0 libcurl.4.dylib 0x00007fff87c5897b Curl_raw_equal + 704
1 libcurl.4.dylib 0x00007fff87c330df Curl_http + 967
2 libcurl.4.dylib 0x00007fff87c4084b Curl_do + 218
3 libcurl.4.dylib 0x00007fff87c4fc63 multi_runsingle + 1273
4 libcurl.4.dylib 0x00007fff87c5046a multi_socket + 333

9 org.m0k.transmission 0x000000010006a7fa 0x100000000 + 436218
10 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff88afbf8e _pthread_start + 331
11 libSystem.B.dylib 0x00007fff88afbe41 thread_start + 13

/REM: I cannot even get it to run for a few seconds before it (ver. 1.90) abends.
Ran the disk utility, verufied / repaired permissions. Reboot: same immediate problem.
Cold boot: same problem.
This is quite frustrating, since I am at 98% completion of a torrent d/l.

@ x190: "Open using Rosetta" is greyed out, so this option is not available, only:
"Open in 32-bit mode" ... when I enable this the app manages to run for about 30 sec. then *crash*! *bye*!
I'm going to re-install ver 1.83

Version 1.90+ (10248) running fine for a few hours already. Tried Automatically map port is fine also. Randomize port button works fine without hanging after pressing the button and listening port number changes. In past it just hangs. So far so good. Though it seems that new releases seem buggy most of time and frustrating on the new releases, I still like to thank the developers and troubleshooters for their effort in fixing the bugs quickly. For a product that is provided at no charge, I would not complain much for the great application Transmission is. A big Thank you all.

Just chiming in from lurking to say that it appears to have fixed my crash as well. Thank you.

I think I found a way to fix this. I have to set the global connexions max to something at least slightly larger than the connections per torrent times the number of concurrent connections.

So, if I set 50 connections for each torrent, and I have 4 active torrents, the maximum connections has to be more than 50x4=200 connections.

I think this started happening when I increased my total active torrents from 3 to 4. So, maybe the total max is the amount of memory allocated, but the per connection setting can cause an overrun?

Call me crazy. But that's all I changed and it hasn't crashed for 7-8 hours after crashing every 20 minutes.

Checking "Open in 32 Bit Mode" worked great for me :) Will report back if it stops working, but will otherwise wait for the next stable build.
(Still using Leopard on my server, and it's very much 32 bit only, so that's probably why...).

These are all red herrings. This has been fixed for 1.91. Try a build from http://transmission.xpjets.com/ and report back.

livings124, I understand your standpoint, but at the same time I don't get crashes on 1.90 anymore after changing the settings I mentioned.

So maybe my issue was different.

Anyhow, glad to hear the issue is resolved for both of us.

Well since it's not crashing now I'm not about to try to make it crash by upgrading. Especially since the devs haven't changed anything in the area I'm describing :-)

I'll try it in the next few weeks, but for now I'm catching up with some DLs and enjoying not having issues :-\
