Deleting unwanted torrents

Post by sidnanna »

Hi all,

I had a mate install transmission on my Imac running leopard and he set up some downloads of Torrent files. I didn't want them and have tried to delete them but they kept reappearing. Since then my house got hit by lightening, my IMac blew up and I am now using a new Imac running snow leopard. I set up this Imac using a time machine backup and the torrents have come across. When I try to delete them from this machine the same thing happens, they reappear next time I access my HD. I have reinstalled transmission in an attempt to find a way of deleting with no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hello again,

I tried the process suggested below but did not reinstall Transmisson yet. They are still coming back to my HD. Any further ideas on how to get rid of these torrent files?

Cheers

Hello,

the files that keep coming back are named either Family Guy, Top Gear or House with episode numbers after them for example "Family Guy 08 x 11". They all have the extension .torrent. They appear on my Mac HD below Library, User, Applications etc. I have no idea were they are coming from as I have never been able to access any of the files. A mate installed Transmission for me, set up the downloads for these shows but it has never worked. When I try to open them with transmission I get a warning message saying that the file is not a valid torrent file and cannot be opened because it contains no data.

Hope this helps!!!

Cheers

Hello,

This is where the files are located

I am not sure about Time Machine still being in restore mode - It is making regular back ups from my Mac.

I just want the files gone from my HD, as they clutter everything up, and then I can start using Transmission properly.

Thanks again.

Cheers

It's best to upload screenshots to an image hosting site such as Image Shack. http://imageshack.us/

Perhaps you have the watch directory enabled and the torrent files are coming from there?
