Preferences > Transfers > Management for Linux

Post by josephj »

I found a bunch of other threads addressing this, but they were all really old.

What plans, if any, are there for adding Preferences > Transfers > Management or something similar to the Linux version?

I spend a lot of time at a location that has adsl (760/160) and Transmission would work a whole lot better if I could tell it to do one (or some other small number) of downloads at a time. The same goes for seeding.

Now, I do it manually and it seems to me like I get much better performance, but to get it, I have to babysit Transmission constantly. I want to be able to queue up a bunch of torrents and forget about it (and have them run one or two at a time).

As others have pointed out, it would also be nice if the feature knew how to "keep things going" so that an inactive torrent wouldn't hog an "active slot" and prevent all the rest from transferring.

From reading other threads, it looks like the Mac version already has such a feature and has had it for quite some time. I know deluge has this feature, but I've gotten hooked on Transmission. Overall, I like it much better than the other clients I have tried so far.

I don't know anything about the structure of your code base, but it seems to me that such a feature is largely "administrative" in nature and so would probably not be anywhere near code that is architecture dependent (unless the gui itself is dependent).

Thanks.

Thanks! That's exactly what I want for Linux. I definitely don't have it now:Transmission 2.00 (10790). The entries under the Queues heading are what I'm missing.
