Transmission asking for access to keychain?

Post by Francis00 »

Hey.

For some reason Transmission is asking me to enter my master password every time it opens up to access my mac keychain. I can't think of anything it would need to access so it just seems sketchy to me. Any ideas on why it might be doing this?

Thank you.

Thank you very much for your prompt and detailed response. Those links you provided me helped me learn a lot more about various aspects of keychain access and I appreciate that. However, I am still a little confused. I have no idea what password transmission would need out of my keychain. You mentioned a network connection password however I am connected directly through ethernet. Is there a way to check which specific password it is requesting? Once I find out then I will make the decision on whether or not to allow once, always allow, or deny.

Thanks again for your time.

The app should prompt you to access the Keychain if you have a password set for proxy or RPC access. Are you using the released version of the app from the website, or a version you built yourself (or a nightly build)? Only the released version, which is signed, should stop asking you after asking once.
