Current website drastically effects speed.
I'm having a very unusual issue that I've never experienced before. Using Transmission 2.10 build 11303 on mac OSX snow leopard. Depending on what website I currently have open, download speeds are DRASTICALLY effected. I started noticing having speeds randomly sink to around 20-40k and then come back up. I started downloading a large torrent with lots of seeders and it would start out going about 1.4m. Open Chrome and go to google, nothing changes, open ESPN.com and I drop to 20-40k even after the page has fully loaded. Back to google and I'm at 1.4m. I head to tracker.example.com and I get between 100-200k. Back go Google and I'm at 1.4m. Every website appears to be a little different. I repeated these results with both Firefox and Safari and even tried reverting to 2.04 but the issue continued. One things for sure, I get full bandwidth when my web page is idling on Google. I'm not sure that this is a bug with Transmission or my ISP, but it's VERY strange and I've never encountered it before. Anybody seen this before?

Upload speeds do not appear to be affected.

Three weeks later and I'm still encountering this problem. Can anybody give me an idea?

Sounds like it's not exactly a Transmission problem. Google always optimizes its sites for speed. It probably drops in speed because Transmission is using all of the available download speed but is forced to share on a site with a lot of pictures. Does the it behave better when you cap the download?

No, the point is, I can sit here and idle on the transmission forum home page and be getting 200kbps on a torrent with 200 seeders. Page has finished loading ages ago, and it's a pretty simple page. I then type in google.com in my browser (regardless of which one) and it immediately jumps to 1.7mbps. Facebook also delivers the 1.7mbps, but most other sites drop my speeds to somewhere in the middle or all the way down to (almost) nothing. Been doing it for weeks and I'm not sure if it's my ISP or what.

And it didn't used to do this. Used to be able to surf the net to my hearts content while Transmission hummed along at 1mbps+

Could be your ISP. I don't know of any other solutions, sorry.
