seeding a old torrents in Transmission

Post by glasskat »

I use Mac 10.6 and I'm not very knowledgeable on computers and new to Torrents in General so keep that in mind...
I'm quiting Vuze! ....But I want to continue seeding the torrents I have...How do I move them to Transmission and seed them from there?

Since you're not moving between machines (or are you?), all you basically have to do is get the .torrent files, add them to Transmission, point Transmission to the location of the data file on your Mac, and verify the torrent: Transfers > Verify Local Data. You'll lose your local stats, though, since Vuze keeps that in its own format.

To get the .torrent files from Vuze, select all the torrents that you'd like to migrate. Then, Right Click > Advanced > Export > Torrent..., and save them to an easily accessible folder. Drag-and-drop is a fast way to get them all added at once in Transmission's main window.

Yes, I'm on one computer. Please understand, I'm at a 1st grade level on my Mac....
I've tried to move the torrent file to the Transmission but it still wants to reload the whole file from my private tracker
Sure, I can drop and drag them to from the Vuse window to Transmissions main window, but it's the same problem. Transmission wants to reload them from my private tracker. Sure, I can reload them....but what a mess and so much extra work....
Have I made a mistake setting up my Transmission? Wrong Default folder?
Allot of these torrents, I'm the only person seeding them so reloading them from my private tracker isn't a option....I just want to put them move the files....and allow them to seed from there....

Then I can delete the Vuse folder entirely...

Unless you've disabled the Add Window:

You have to change the download directory to where the data is and click the Verify Local Data button right there. It shouldn't download it again.

Rolcol!!! You're a genius!!!

That one picture told me so much...I was hung up on the words "Download To" so I was downloading to my Transmission default folder.

Thank You So Much!! :D
