Error: Invalid event= from client.

Post by essiw »

I get that error message in one of my torrents when I started T (T didn't crash or something)
I have downloaded 500MB of the 2500MB and I am seeding that part. So why do I get this error when nothing is wrong?

I just got the same error. T version 1.61 (8386). I downloaded part 1 file from a pack of files in the torrent. T is currently uploading data for that torrent, so the error didn't cause anything to stop, as far as I can see.

This is the only reference I've been able to find to this particular problem I'm having.

I'm running Transmission 1.75 on FreeBSD, so this problem isn't specific to Mac.

At first glance it does appear to keep seeding after downloading but on restarting Transmission I don't get properly registered with the tracker.

This problem only occurs with specific trackers, and only when seeding partial downloads (ie. once downloading has completed). Downloading and seeding complete torrents is fine.

I understand it's a tracker "error" but obviously there is an incompatibility here. I'd like to help resolve it.

I get the same error. Definitely tied to "stealth seeding", ie, completing a torrent with some of the files deselected and seeding the part that you have.

It sounds like your tracker's software doesn't understand event=paused used for partial seeding.

Documentation for this is at http://www.bittorrent.org/beps/bep_0021 ... r-announce
