Obvious "Port Closed" indicator

Post by Zhora »

1) Add a visual indicator of the status of Transmission's port in the main Transmission window (maybe by changing the color of the upload indicator icon to red, green or yellow in the same way as the port closed indicator in the Preferences panel).

2) [Perhaps] display (preference choice?) a warning that the port has closed (if that's even possible to detect efficiently).

---------------------------------------
Here's the problem (which I'm not trying to deal with since it involves too many variables):

I use the "automatically map port" option which generally works fine but sometimes, for an unknown reason, the port will close (usually after I've left Transmission running for a long while and come back to it to find it closed). I have always been able to open the port by: on the network router I renew the DNS addresses and reboot; in Network Prefs (Mac) I disable the service being used and apply that change, then (re)enable the service and apply that change (which also renews the DNS address there), then I may have to close and restart Transmission. I can't say all of that is necessary but I haven't distilled it any further yet.]
