I can’t figure out if my Transmission is messed or if it is correctly configured and my travails are the norm.
Here are the three stages of my experience with Transmission.
1. When I first used Transmissions I thought I had stepped into nirvana. It worked. What more could one ask for? No more suffering with µTorrent or Vuze. My port were always green up until three months ago. I textclipped a couple of green numbers and checked them into the bank for safekeeping; just in case.
Question 1: Just because a port setting is green, does that mean it is a good port setting and should be kept frozen in place? Tried this but at times it was not green so activated randomizing.
2. Then the ugly happened and I was months and months with only faint recollections of my green ports so I broke open the bank and tried applying my good green numbers but, no balloons.
My Transmission didn’t seem to work right. It was slow and rare did I see many connections.
I checked for updates—I was up to date.
Tried reconfigurations in Preferences but everything seems copasetic.
Checked to make sure that my firewall and all those trappings were as open as possible. (No fear here of internet diseases. I’m a Mac guy.)
Most of my connections seemed unknown. Lines in red, lines in blue, lines in green and some did DL snail-like and others not at all. I began to wish I was as well hung as my DLs.
Question 2: Why would a perfectly healthy Transmission and configuration seem to suddenly go wacko on me?
3. The past few days I have ventured to Transmission forums to plead for help to get my pw changed and a genius appeared moments of my request and made not one snark remark. Thus encouraged and desiring to begin the daunting task to fix my Transmission, I peeked and found my port to have an emerald eye. Now, every time I click randomize, I get a new green dot.
Here is my third question which if answered with the answer I wish, will save me an eternity in reading and study and fidgeting and pleading.
Question 3:
Does getting my port suddenly showing green again mean my Transmission’s setting are healthy and all is right in my world? Does this mean Transmission suffers occasional cramps and one has to put up with them.
4. I don't have control over my internet connection. I share cable with a friend. His dlink is open (nix on any password). All the PC guys we know (who feel they are experts) can't figure out how to fix this.
Question 4: Would this openness be the problem of intermittent Transmission green lights?

Transmission Intermittent
Re: Transmission Intermittent
Since my last post here I had a pretty good time with all the green ports. Green was supreme until yesterday. Then at some point I was back to red closed ports and that is where it sits today. Haven't a clue why but since I didn't see anything different from when I was Red and then suddenly Green and now back to Red, I guess my Transmission is probably working and I should not worry about the Port gods. (At one point I had an Orange bubble and something about the port site not being available.) Go figger.
I have put enough time into figuring out what makes the port thing tick over the year with Transmission and not being enough of a tech geek, I think I will just leave this lying dog be. I have too many things to do so Transmission Intermittent is to be accepted as normal and life goes on.
Would have liked a comment as to whether or not others had this similar experience but most are probably just looking for answers. But if anyone else has experienced this then maybe the answer is that it is just normal.
