setting up a blocklist

I'm having a terrible time setting up my blocklist. Under the peers tab, there is place where you can put a blocklist URL, but no matter what I put, it says no permission to read file or invalid. I've googled URL and Blocklist and nothing seems to work with a mac. Can someone help me get started. Thanks.
