So I'm an intermediate Transmission user, but am having problems seeding my torrents.
Here is the basic information that will help you help me...
- I use a private torrent site that requires me to seed in order to download.
- My ping is on average 15ms (speedtest.net)
- My DL Speed is on average 7mb/s (speedtest.net)
- My Upload Speed is on average 3mb/s (speedtest.net)
- http://www.canyouseeme.org/ verifies that my port is not blocked
My Network Settings under Transmission Preferences are as follows...
- Peer listening port is 49490, and port check is open
- I have Automatically map port checked
- I have randomize port on launch UNCHECKED
My Peers Settings under Transmission Preferences are as follows...
- Global maximum connections: 200
- Maximum connections for new transfers: 60
- CHECK - Use peer exchange (PEX) for public torrents
- CHECK - Use distributed hash table (DHT) for public torrents
- UNCHECK - Use local peer discovery for public torrents
- CHECK - Prefer encrypted peers
- UNCHECK - Ignore unencrypted pers
- UNCHECK - prevent pers in blocklist from connecting
- BLANK - URL:
My Bandwidth Settings under Transmission Preferences are as follows...
- CHECK - Download Rate - 500 kb/s
- CHECK - Upload Rate - 300 kb/s
- Speed limit mode - Download Rate - 500 kb/s - Upload Rate - 300 kb/s
I hope this is enough information to help you guys help me. I believe I don't need to do a port forward if my port is open, but correct me if I'm wrong. Any help you can offer me is much appreciated!

To seed successfully, you need to:
1. Insure you are *exactly* doing it according to your private torrent site specifications. (Do they require an added text document? Do they require technical descriptions? Do they specify a particular port? Do they have bandwidth requirements for seeders? Do they have some kind of point system that you need to deal with?
2. Torrent sites *only* store your torrent --- not your file. Until others become aware of your torrent *** and decide they want it*** then your seeding efforts are mostly in a standby mode. Gotta have a demand for it --- be patient (or seed something more desirable for the group)----
