script to rename torrent data file(s) on completion?

Post by envoy510 »

The new Mac version has "on torrent completion" scripts. THANKS!

I want to use this for moving torrents from the ~/Downloads/ directory to the final resting place for the torrent.

First, by "complete" does that mean when the torrent is done downloading or done seeding?

Second, I assume that if the script moves the downloaded file (avi, mp4, whatever), Transmission will not be able to seed anymore if the answer to the previous question is "done downloading".
I was thinking of a hack for this last problem: put a symlink in it's place after the file is moved.

Anyone have advice before I embark on this mini project?

Thanks!

EDIT: I just want to be clear that I want to move the torrent data file(s) to different directories based on the name of the torrent file. Currently, I do this manually, and a script to do it would be really nice and save me the manual work of doing this. That's what 'puters are for, doing this type of stuff.

The script is executed when the download is complete.

Can't this just be done by assigning them to groups? Transmission > Preferences > Groups:

Yup, can see your'e torrent addict. I'm also using couple of hundred torrenting softwares, thing is, you just can't blame or manage torrent through manual scripts. [not practical]. May be you need a kinda object-oriented-ready-made scripts or file renamer. Life is limited, I don't want to re-discover 'already discovered' scripts, better search 'em.
