Transmission drops internet connection dueto router overload

Post by perseon »

Hi everyone,

I have a problem -actually I think many people have in case you have a bad router and a torrent program- regarding my internet connection when I use the Trasnmission coming with the DSM 3.1 of Synology. If I have the Transmission active I can not use internet, the bandwidth is used completly by Transmission. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I have a Belkin ADSL router F5D8635-4v1.

Many thanks in advance,

Test your effective bandwidth with some testing program, set the global up and download speed limit somewhere between 70% and 90% of those numbers, the lower the speed the lower the speed cap "percentage" should be. You might also want to set the per-torrent speed limits to something nice, though where those limits go in general I have no idea.

Most torrent clients are, by default, unrestricted and thus they try and "suck up" every bit of bandwidth you have.
