Scheduled Download

Post by evanwidloski »

Add a "Schedule" option in the right click menu of the selected torrent which would bring up a small calendar and a time field.

The user would set a date and time for the download to begin.

This would be useful for those running local server (ie game/web server) who want to save their bandwidth for busy hours
and download at times of low traffic, like 3-9am.

/**EDIT**/
Perhaps it would be better if this were a button in the window for adding torrents.

The key is automation, and I don't want to have to get up at 3 am to start my download

I believe you can set turtle mode to effectively no downloading at all and use that for the times you don't want to download, and use the normal mode for the times you want to download (a.k.a off-hours). And before you say anything, turtle mode has an auto-schedule.

If the turtle functionality doesn't work for you, then cron might just be your friend. Either start/stop transmission completely with it or start all torrents at 3AM and stop all torrents at 10AM using transmission-remote.
