Seeding an existing file
Seeding an existing file
I have a file that I downloaded via torrent moons ago but there are no current seeders. Someone asked me to "reseed" the file. I do I do that? I tried putting it in the directory with my other files but that doesn't seem to work.

Re: Seeding an existing file
You need to add it to Transmission itself, and just placing it in the default download folder won't do squat.
Fetch the original .torrent file (or use the corresponding magnet link) to add it to Transmission, making sure the existing file is correctly named and that you point the torrent to the correct directory upon addition. If done correctly you should see it verifying existing data and when done with that it should start to seed right away.

Thanks, that worked. I had trouble getting the file named correctly until I realized the magnetic link was giving me the name to use. DOH!!!
