interpret and fix error problem

Hi. Transmission normally works great for me on my Mac. But I have a file that has been downloading for over 5 days and is nearly finished and now I get the following error message:

Please verify local data! Piece #798 is corrupt.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Is it fixable?

Thanks for your help. I was trying to do it through Preferences.
