Port Closed for 2 days / Has worked fine previously

Post by iPaul81 »

Hi All

I have been using Transmission for over 2 years without any issues whatsoever. Just two days ago I noticed the Port Status in the preference menu was advising the Port is closed. I have tried different Port numbers however still no luck. This is very odd as I have not changed anything on my network and it has worked for me previously.

I am using a Macbook Pro connected by wireless to my Airport Extreme Base Station which is connected to a simple ADSL Modem running in Bridged mode. Transmission is listed in the OSX firewall to accept connections however I also tried turning off the firewall and my ISP's firewall. Still no luck. I am not using any type of port forwarding and my IP address is Dynamic. Id prefer to keep it this was if possible.

Here is the Debug log. Any idea what the problem is? Thanks!

http://portcheck.transmissionbt.com/ is probably just reporting incorrectly.

Well I can still download and upload. So are you saying that there is nothing wrong with my connection?

Probably fine. What happens when you enter 53087 on http://canyouseeme.org/ ? (You need to push the button - enter may not work.)

Same here. Transmission says port is closed although it's green on every tracker and canyouseeme.org

Success! So why the hell is Transmission telling me the port is closed?

You can release your OCD inhibitions. Transmission uses that URL to check. If they are down or blocked, then it will say closed.

My Transmission is doing is the same -
Im pretty new to world of mac, but have been using transmission successfully for a month or two now - Since 2 days ago, nothing.
When i ping portcheck.transmissionbt.com that works, but entering 53087 on http://canyouseeme.org/ - I get an error saying that the connection has timed out.
I have downloaded uTorrent and this is connecting without any issues.

What else can I look for?
