How do I delete an existing transfer?

I can't redownload a video which I accidentally threw out, because I get the message 'A transfer of "..." already exists.' How do I remove the transfer? For that matter I'd love to clean out all the old files in the Transmission window but don't see a way. I see a Delete item in the Edit menu but it's greyed out. Count me as technologically inept.

Any help would be much appreciated.
