TransmissionBT freezes under Ubuntu

Hi,
First of all, Transmission is a great program. It's easy and fast.
But... I'm using Transmission v1.93 (10621) on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) with kernel 2.6.32-22 on GNOME 2.30.0.
When I try to download a large file (7Gb), I can see that there is no network activity, no harddisk activity and 100%CPU load on the process. Transmission locks up/freezes completely and even after waiting for 8 hours, I have to reboot my laptop cause I can't kill the process. After a reset I restart Transmission and in the activity log I can see that scraping the large file is done without a problem but as soon as it should start download, the program freezes. And when I look at the .PART file of the torrent I can see it is 0kb, so nothing has been downloaded nor created. I searched the forum but the freeze problems only seem to exist with MAC users...
Thanks!
