I've been trying to download a file and it stops at 99.52% every time. Should I trash it and find another?

What's the availability of the torrent? If availability is only at 99.52%, it's not going to progress until all of it is available. Sounds possibly like endgame is just being really bad for you. Try lowering your connections and restart the torrent. That'll reset the requests Transmission has for the torrent.

So, what was the availability of the torrent? Were there any peers with more than 99.52%?

Where do I find that info?

In the peers tab of the Torrent dialog (named Torrent Inspector on Mac, Torrent Properties on Linux)

99.5%

That's why you're stuck at 99.5% then... there don't appear to be any seeds handy to provide the last 0.5%

I have a question for you. This topic comes up every once in awhile, and we've had failed attempts to make it less confusing. This afternoon, the Transmission IRC channel had a brainstorming session to come up with a concise, simple, and helpful error message. After many revisions, the channel finally arrived at this:

No one connected has the other 0.5%. Transmission will download it when available.

So, my question is... if you had gotten this error message, (a) would it have made sense? (b) would it have been helpful? (c) Would it have been an improvement over what Transmission says now?

I'll take answers a, b, and c. This was my first time with torrents and Transmission. How can I be sure my Mac is secure when using Transmission. Thanks for all your help!
