Hi,
I'm running Transmission 1.9.2 under OSX 10.6.4 on a MacBook Pro. That system shares a LAN and a DSL connection with a VOIP phone. I find that with Transmission running, there's very significant degradation to the voice quality on the phone. This is true even when I set the speed limit to 1Kb/s up and down. If I shut down the wireless interface on my MBP, voice quality immediately goes back to normal. So apparently even at that 1Kb/s speed limit, Transmission is sending/receiving enough data to impact the call.
I'd like to be able to tell Transmission to use zero bandwidth when I'm on the phone, effectively pausing all transfers. Setting the speed limit to 0 doesn't seem to be the answer, since Transmission seems to interpret a speed limit of 0 to mean "unlimited". Is there a way to do this? Or is there some better solution to my problem?
Thanks!
setting speed limit to zero?
Re: setting speed limit to zero?
I'll add that I haven't tried a more recent version of Transmission because a tracker I use has strict rules about client versions and 1.9.2 is the most recent one they've tested and approved. But if this is a known problem fixed in a later release, I'll try to get approval for that later release. I'd rather not randomly upgrade just-in-case because of the effort involved in getting that approval.
