Is there a way to stop the constant IP polling...

While Transmission is in hold mode (ie: waiting for that magical off-peak time when queued downloads can start).
Know what I mean?
Thanks in advance,

Yeah, I 'think' so. Just Googled it & it sounds like that's it. It's just a constant stream on up/down traffic that Little Snitch is displaying as IP addresses. Just wondering if there was a way to disable that traffic 'until' the download queue starts up?

Or, is the amount of traffic generated by all this noise not worth worrying about?

Or maybe I could just use Automator to start up Transmission @ 4am?

Ok, I wrote a quick Apple Script to open Transmission, used iCal to run that script at a predefined time - think I'm all set now :-)
Will let you know if it all works according to plan tomorrow morning (the test run worked - so can't see any reason why it's won't be all go)
