Transmission 1.54 Speeds Not As Fast as Utorrent? Problem?

Here's the issue.
Running Tiger and 1.54 Tranny.

I'm over at a buddy's house and his Utorrent on his windows machine, is downloading a torrent at 900kb/s. He's got cable Internet. And it's fast.

I'm on DSL with a speednet.org test 6 MB/s. I download the same torrent and run it, and maybe get 150 kb/s.

And, I've got to add trackers to the torrent or it's just N/A.

Is this a Transmission thing? A DSL versus Cable thing? A ISP thing (I changed my ISP and the same speed/N/A is occurring.) or what?

Thanks guys

Herk

There are many reasons for speed differences... Comparing different computers on different networks is not very meaning full.. Try uTorrent on your computer on your network, then see if there is a speed difference.

Even then there a significant factor that you can't really affect, and that is which peers you actually managed to connect to.

However there is one factor in favor for uTorrent and that is they are using uTP, which is slated for the 2.30 release of Transmission.

1.54 came out like two years ago... if you really want to do a comparison, compare 2.30 or 2.22 against uTorrent.
