Downloading a Torrent file to Seed (not Leech)

Post by JRJ »

I had not updated my transmission client in ages, so I decided to do so earlier this evening. After the program restarted, all of my active transfers were gone.

All of my downloads were complete, but there were several files I was seeding. I would like to re-seed them, and I can't figure out a simple way of doing this. My old settings trashed the torrent files as soon as a download was completed, so I don't have the original torrent files. I can download them, but I don't know how to tell Transmission that the file already exists (prevent it from starting a redundant download).

Basically, I have files that I want to seed. I don't know a lot about trackers etc. I just want to re-add the torrent to my transfer list AND have the client be aware that the file already exists on my hard drive and doesn't need to be downloaded.

Thanks in advance for any help.
