No torrents in webUI when non-root

When I run transmission-daemon from user root the torrents in watch-dir appear and download as they should, but when I run it from a non-root user the torrents dont appear at all in the webUI. I can see that the torrents are loaded when I run transmission-daemon -f. Still no torrents at all in the webUI.
Anyone know what could be the problem?
