Safeguard against connection drops

Hello everyone,
I live in a country where the government restricts internet access and some online activity can land you in some unpleasant trouble. I'm currently using a VPN to hide my online doings. The problem is that the connection drops without warning once in a while, leaving my IP adress exposed. Is there a way to configure Transmission so that it can only go through my VPN? I'm currently using Tunnelblick as my VPN interface and I'm on OS X 10.6.7.
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot stress enough how important this is for me. I've already posted this in the mac board, and I apologize if this is considered rude, but the issue is really crucial for me.
