Transmission 2.42 password HELP

Please help me to put a password on my Transmission 2.42 web interface. When I access my http://192.168.1.1:9091 don t ask me for password.
I connect via FTP and edit the file settings.json with user and password I save but when I acces webinf nothing happen

I use a Asus WL500G Premium v2 with DD-WRT v24 preSP2 14896 Mega Generic dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin 2010-08-09 7,10 MB with USB Stick 2 GB and Optware.

Can someone help me step by step to configure the program

you have to stop transmission before making changes to settings.json or the changes won't persist.

1) stop/quit transmission
2) edit settings.json
3) re-start transmission

I stoped the service with command service transmission stop I modify the settings.json and restart with service transmission start and dont work.

one other thing to try in settings.json, change

"rpc-whitelist-enabled": false,
